Gino Perella - Running Back Coach
Coach Gino Perella grew up in the city and played ball at Schenley High school. He attended IUP, and unfortunately, after several injuries had to walk away from playing after his freshman season. He was a quarterback and Free Safety during his high school football career.
After a few years away from the game Coach Perella was given his first opportunity coaching while living in Ocean City, MD at Stephen Decatur High School in Berlin, MD. In 1999, he was the teams' scout and would film opponents for the following week's games. The following season he was promoted to the coaching staff where he started out coaching offensive and defensive linemen. From 2000 to 2004 the team won the conference championship every year and 2 Eastern Conference Championships, losing twice in the state semifinals.
After moving back to Pittsburgh in 2005, Coach Perella was able to return to his Alma Mater and coach at Schenley High School under long-time Coach Jim Trent. At Schenley, he was able to continue his coaching experience working with Wide Receivers and Defensive Backs while also being the Special Teams coordinator.
After schenley High School closed, Coach Perella and his family moved out of the city and landed in North Fayette Township. He coached youth football at West Allegheny for the past 11 years while his boys played through the system. He served as both and Assistant Coach and Head Coach during his tenure. He also served on West A board as Vice President and President for 3 years as well as president of the Parkway Youth Football League for the past 4 years.
Coach Perella got a second chance to coach high school football in 2019 at Bethel Park High School. Coach helps primarily with developing the freshman players as well as assisting with Wide Receiver duties. In the 2020 season, Coach Perella will be working with Running Backs.
